We are very pleased to announce that Mr Oliver Scott, Founder of the Momentum Theatre Company (biography below), is joining the Vicky Grant School of Dance as Head of Acting, offering acting classes to children aged 8-18 years.
Vicky Grant, Principal, commented; "I have had the pleasure of working with Oliver for many years, both on and off the stage, and he is a fantastic actor, teacher and director. His classes are always full of energy and fun and I am so excited to have him on board."
Starting after the Easter holidays, the classes will run in similar terms to the dance school, with an exception of a slightly shorter Winter term due to Oliver’s professional work during December. There will be a show for parents at the end of November for all students who take part in the acting classes.
All classes will be held on Monday’s at One Leisure St Ives.
All students have a two-week trial period, if they do not like it, there is nothing to pay, if you would like to enrol them after the two-week trial, you need to pay the term fee and that will take you up to the Summer break.

Mr Oliver Scott - Biography
Oliver Scott is an Actor, Theatre Director and Teacher. Oliver graduated from Anglia Ruskin University in 2014 (With a First Class Drama degree) and then trained at the Guildford School of Acting (MA in Acting). Since graduating from Guildford he has worked in theatre and radio. He devised and directed a brand new production for Momentum Theatre Company titled 'A Night at the Bar(d)' which commemorated 400 years since the death of William Shakespeare. He has just finished appearing in and directing the spectacular pantomime ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at the Grange Theatre in Northwich, Cheshire.
We are excited to announce some fun-filled energetic acting workshops for children aged 8-18 years!
The workshops look at the basic techniques of acting through fun scenes and scripts and are dedicated to helping young, aspiring actors enhance their self-confidence and encourage both working in a team and as an individual.
Led by Mr Oliver Scott of the Momentum Theatre Company, and the head of acting in the Magical Musicals team, the workshops will be high-paced and a lot of fun!
Once we know the interest, we will split the groups by age; each group will have a 90-minute session and we will let you know the time slots that each group have as soon as we can. This is open to students and non-students of the dance school, so please feel free to forward this onto your friends!
Date: Monday 13th February 2017 (Half term)
Cost: £15.00 per 90 minute session
*Special offer for Vicky Grant School of Dance students - £12.50 per 90 minute session.

We are pleased to announce that as of January 2017, we will be offering classes in Contemporary Dance for children aged 7 years and above.
Miss Charlotte has trained and qualified with iD-Dance, an independent teacher training and dance examination board, and we are very excited to offer a course which gives students a broad training and introduction to the many directions of contemporary dance.
Class Age Groups and Details:
Junior Contemporary Class (7-9 years) - Wednesday’s, St Ives Corn Exchange from 6.30-7.15pm
Intermediate Contemporary Class (10-12 years) - Tuesday’s, Needingworth Studio from 5.00-6.00pm
Senior Contemporary Class (13-18 years) - Monday’s, Needingworth Studio from 5.00-6.00pm
Uniform is black leggings, tights or shorts with a black leotard or vest. Bare feet or black or white trainer socks can be worn.

What is Contemporary Dance?
“Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.”
Following many requests, we are pleased to be offering Adult Ballet classes for beginners and advanced students from September 2016!
Beginners Adult Ballet for students 18 years and over (no upper age limit!)
Monday's, Needingworth, 7.00-8.00pm
This class is suitable for adults who have no or limited ballet training
Advanced Adult Ballet for students 18 years and over (no upper age limit!)
Monday's, Needingworth, 8.00-9.00pm
This class is suitable for adults who have had ballet training in the past.

Following our very successful Magical Musicals Summer School last year, we are pleased to be running it again this year and there are just a few spaces left!
For children aged 8-18 years, the Magical Musicals Summer School runs from the 16th-18th August 2016, 9.30am-4.30pm each day, with a show on the last day starting at 5pm. It is to be held at the St Ives Corn Exchange in St Ives town centre.
Over the three days your child/children will learn dancing, singing and scene acting workshops from professionals in the industry, all content is based around West End musicals, past and present.

1st November 2013 - We are very excited to be able to announce that Miss Debbie Watt is now offering singing lessons in St Ives to all of our students aged 10 years and over.
For those of you who do not know Debbie, she is a former pupil with the school who progressed onto professional college and has since performed all over the world. She is an incredible singer and teacher and we are delighted to be able to offer this additional performance skill to our students.
Lessons will be held in St Ives on Wednesday’s only.

7th September 2013 – Formally the Norma Terry School of Dance, The Vicky Grant School of Dance today officially announces its new name. Vicky Grant, a former pupil from the age of four years old and most recently co-Principal of the school, has taken full ownership as of 1st September 2013.
"Dancing has always been my passion in life and, from a very young age, I always knew I wanted to teach with a dream of owning my own school one day," comments Vicky Grant. "As I have always danced and taught with Norma Terry I understand the business' mission and will continue to build on this moving forward."
Founded in 1986 by Norma Terry, the school offers Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz and Tap Dancing for children of all ages. The school is registered with the British Theatre Dance Association (BTDA) and is accredited with the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET).
