IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ! Although we do not have to ask you to complete an individual signed medical declaration, it is expected that if you, your child, or anyone in your household is displaying any symptoms of Coronovirus, your child must not attend the class under any circumstances and you, as the parent or guardian, accepts full responsibility for this.

What we're doing to look after you/your child during the pandemic

  • All students to use the Main Entrance to enter the building and the Fire Exit door next to the large roller shutter door to exit the building. Students under the age of 18 will be accompanied on and off the premises by a teacher or class assistant to ensure they get to the correct area

  • All students who are under the age of 8-years-old, must have a parent/guardian on the premises, however, as we are not allowed to let anyone other than students and staff into the building, you will have to remain in your car for the duration of the lesson until the restrictions are lifted and you can come inside the building during classes

  • All students in Year 7 and above (including adults) will have to wear a mask when they enter and exit the property - we do not need to wear masks during the class as we can maintain social distancing within the studio

  • There will be a set arrival time and collection time for your child. It's vital that you stick to the times given as anyone that is late (or too early!) may run the risk of crossing paths with the group before/after and we have to try and avoid this at all costs. We also have to allow a window between each class to fully clean the studio before the next class starts. Exact times will be in your specific class emails.

  • All health and safety measures have been looked at in detail, we have a specific COVID-19 risk assessment for the building, and take full responsibility to ensure that myself, and my staff, are following all of the protective measures required. I have also passed my 'Infection Prevention & Control in Education' Level 2 certificate.

  • The usual health and safety measures, fire and risk assessments on the building have also been conducted and all areas have a clear exit route in case of emergencies, we have first aid kits available, and all staff will have been trained on all procedures. Should your child require first aid during the class, the teacher will put a mask and gloves on to attend to your child and we will document everything to comply with the government 'Track and Trace' procedures.

  • Myself and my teaching staff will wear masks for your child's arrival and departure but, once we start teaching, and are within the safe social distancing area set out for us, we will not wear masks to teach.

  • Please note that no other adults, other than the teaching staff, will be allowed onto the property, so please do not try and come into the building on arrival or collection, it is not allowed yet. We will not let your child out of sight until we can see you (if they are too young to leave alone of course!), so please keep an eye on the exit door at the specified time so we can clear everyone out as quickly as possible. The exit door is next to the large roller shutter door you will see as you drive up the building and will be clearly marked as the exit

  • Within the studios, each student will have their own (socially distanced) area to place their belongings on, and must understand the importance of not sharing drinks, deodorant, etc. They must only use their own belongings - I will include a list of things to bring, if necessary, in the class specific emails

  • There will be plenty of hand sanitiser as well as anti-bacterial wipes, and soap levels will be checked in the toilets regularly but please ensure they have washed/sanitised their hands before they come into the building

  • Please ensure that, where possible, they have been to the toilet prior to coming into the building. Although we do have toilets available for each studio to use, it means extra cleaning time at the end of the class, which is already quite a tight turnaround

  • We are also not allowed to have changing rooms open, please make sure they come ready for the class under any outdoor clothes they may have

  • To promote social distancing while we are dancing, a 2mx2m area will be marked on the floor for each student. The teaching staff will remain behind a marked out line at the front.

Please note that if your child is under 5 years of age, they are not expected to remain in the 2mx2m boxes, but the teacher will remain in their area to minimise contact with the children and will endeavour to minimise any physical contact between the children...it's not the way we like to run our under 5 classes, but hopefully this is only for a short time.

  • Please remember that bare feet is not allowed during the pandemic, so if their dance shoes are too tight, please make sure they have socks with them until you can get new shoes.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or queries about any of the above.

We are so looking forward to welcoming your children to Team VG again!

Best wishes,
Vicky Grant
